Eng., Colchicum Seed. The dried seeds of Colchicum autumnale.
3 grains (0.2 Gm.).
Eng., Fluidextract of Colchicum Seed.
3 minims (0.2 mil).
1 Hughes: Practice of Medicine.
Eng., Tincture of Colchicum Seed. Represents 10 per cent. of the drug. Average Dose.-30 minims (2 mils).
Official Alkaloid from Colchicum.
Eng., Colchicine.
Pale-yellow scales or powder.
In 22 parts of water. Very soluble in alcohol.
1/120 grain (0.0005 Gm.).
Antirheumatic, analgesic.
Employed in the treatment of rheumatism, gout and neuralgia.
The Tincture or the unofficial Wine (10 per cent.) are the preparations most employed. They are usually prescribed with other agents, as the salicylates, etc.
