Latin, Lactucarium
Eng., Lactucarium. Synonym, Lettuce. The dried milk-juice of Lactuca virosa. Average Dose.-15 grains (1 Gm.).
1 Hughes: Practice of Medicine.
Eng., Syrup of Lactucarium. Represents 5 per cent. of the drug.
2 1/2 fluidrachms (10 mils).
Eng., Tincture of Lactucarium. Represents SO per cent. of the drug.
30 minims (2 mils).
Sedative, hypnotic. Uses.-Has been recommended for whooping-cough, hysteria, neurasthenia, etc. Seldom prescribed.
