Latin, Salicinum
Eng., Salicin. A glucoside obtained from several species of Salix and Populus and appearing in the form of crystals, needles, prisms, or powder; odorless, and having a very bitter taste.
15 grains (1 Gm.).
Antipyretic, antirheumatic, antiseptic.
Sometimes employed in the treatment of rheumatism, tonsillitis and kindred conditions. Not often prescribed.
