Latin, Terpini Hydras (Gen., Terpini Hydratis)
Eng., Terpin Hydrate.
Colorless prisms.
Nearly odorless and having a slightly aromatic and somewhat bitter taste.
In 200 parts of water or in 13 parts of alcohol.
4 grains (0.25 Gm.).
Diuretic, antiseptic, lessens bronchial secretion.
Employed in the treatment of bronchitis, phthisis, whooping-cough, etc.; also for gonorrhea, cystitis, and kindred conditions.
Usually prescribed in capsules or in hydro-alcoholic solutions such as Aromatic Elixir.
