Half a pound of ivory black, half a pound of treacle, half an ounce of powdered alum,one drachm of turpentine, one ounce of sulphuric acid, and two ounces of raw linseed oil. The ivory black and treacle must first be mixed together until thoroughly incorporated; then add the rest of the Ingredients. It keeps best in a bladder. This receipt has been used in a friend's family for the last seventeen years, and is much approved.
