1 cup sugar 1 cup sorghum or Orleans molasses 1 cup sour milk 1/2 cup fat 1/2 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon cocoa 1 teaspoon cinnamon 1/2 teaspoon cloves 1 teaspoon ginger 1 1/2 teaspoons soda 3 cups flour
Put ingredients together into mixing bowl, beat well and bake in a slow oven.
1 cup sorghum or Orleans molasses 1/3 cup fat 1/2 cup sour milk
2 cups flour 1 teaspoon ginger 1/2 teaspoon salt 1 1/2 teaspoons soda
To above receipt add 3/4 cup flour, drop by spoonfuls on buttered pans. Spread out until 1/4 inch thick. Bake slowly.
These are better than a rolled cooky, besides they save time and flour.

2 cups flour 1/2 cup raisins l 1/4 cups rolled oats 1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon 3/4 teaspoon cloves 1/4 teaspoon vanilla 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg 1 1/2 teaspoons soda
Mix well together, drop by teaspoonfuls on greased pan. Bake in slow oven.
1/2 cup sugar 1/2 cup sorghum or Orleans molasses 1/2 cup sour milk 1 egg 1/3 cup fat 1 1/4 cups rolled oats
2 cups flour 1 cup raisins 1 tablespoon cocoa 1 teaspoon cinnamon 1/2 teaspoon cloves 1 teaspoon soda
Mix well, drop by teaspoonfuls on greased pan and bake in a slow oven.
Simple Desserts
3/4 cup sugar Bread
2 teaspoons cinnamon Butter substitute
Cut bread into slices, then into strips or triangles. Butter lightly with the butter substitute, sprinkle with the mixed sugar and cinnamon, and toast in hot oven until crisp. Serve with baked apple.
2 cups flour 3/4 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons syrup 3 tablespoons fat
4 teaspoons baking powder 1/2 cup milk
Sift dry ingredients together, mix with milk and syrup and add melted fat last, beating well. Into the dry ingredients sifted together, rub the fat. Mix with the milk and syrup. Turn into a greased pan and bake in a hot oven.
1 1/2 cups flour 1 egg
1/2 cup milk 3 tablespoons melted fat
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder 3 tablespoons sugar or syrup
Put all ingredients, except egg white, into mixing bowl and beat well. Fold in stiffly beaten white, turn into greased shallow pan. Bake in hot oven.
By eliminating the rolling of short cake, both time and flour are saved.
Crush half the berries, sweeten and let stand half an hour. Cover short cake crust first with crushed berries, then with whole ones.
2 cups juice from canned peaches
2 tablespoons cornstarch
1 tablespoon butter substitute Peaches
Place peaches over short cake and serve with sauce made of first three ingredients.
