Abdo'men. Lower chamber of trunk.
Abduc'tion. Movement of a limb from middle line of body.
Acetab'ulum. Vinegar-cup.
Acro'mion. Process which terminates the spine of the scapula.
Adduc'tion. Movement of a limb toward middle line of body.
Ad'ipose. Fatty.
Afferent. Carrying from periphery to centre.
Aliment'ary. Pertaining to food.
Alve'olus. A little hole.
Amylop'sin. A ferment of pancreatic juice which acts on starch.
Anas'tomo'sis. Communication of branches of vessels.
Anco'neus. A muscle of the elbow.
Anti'cus. Anterior.
Antrum. A cavern.
Aor'ta. Common trunk of systemic arteries.
Aponeuro'sis. Expansion of tendon.
Arach'noid. Like a spider's web, middle covering of brain and spinal cord.
Are'olar tissue. A soft filmy membrane continuous throughout the body.
Aryte'noid. Two cartilages of the larynx resembling the mouth of a pitcher. At'rophy. Wasting.
Auric'ulo-ventric'ular. Relating to the auricles and ventricles of the heart.
Az'ygos. Without a fellow, applied to a single vein, etc.
Bi'ceps. Two-headed muscle of arm and leg.
Bicus'ped. Having two cusps or points.
Bra'chial (bra'keal or brak'ial). Relating to the arm.
Bron'chi. Two tubes into which the trachea divides.
Buc'cinator (buk'sinator). A muscle of the cheek, the trumpeter's muscle.
Cœ'cum. A Wind pouch at the beginning of the large intestine.
Capil'lary (kapil'ary or kap'ilary). Hair-like, minute vessels between arteries and veins.
Cap'sule. A bag, applied to ligaments, etc.
Car'diac. Relating to the heart.
Carot'ids. Two arteries of the neck.
Car'pus. Wrist.
Car'tilage. A non-vascular elastic tissue.
Cau'da equi'na. Horse's tail termination of the spinal cord.
Cerebel'lum. Lower part of brain.
Cer'ebrum. Upper and chief part of brain.
Cervi'cal. Pertaining to the neck.
Chore'a. Dancing. Functional derangement of motor nerves St. Vitus's dance.
Coo'cyx (kok'siks). Like a cuckoo's beak, the caudal end of the spinal column.
Con'dyle. A knob or knuckle, an articular process.
Cor'acoid. Like a crow's beak, a process of the scapula.
Cor'onoid. Like a crown, a process of the ulna.
Cor'puscle. A small body.
Cotyloid. Cup-shaped cavity of the hip-bone.
Cu'boid. Like a cube, a bone of the instep.
Cu'neiform. Wedge-shaped, a bone of the instep and wrist.
