Berberine. The carbonate, phosphate, and sulphate are used in medicine as antiperiodics in doses of 5 to 15 grains, and as digestive stimulants and tonics in doses of 1/2 to 2 grains. The carbonate is given in pills or capsules, while the soluble phosphate is given in aromatized solution.
