It has been recommended to inject the sac of a ranula with iodine after emptying its contents; I have made numerous trials of this plan, but have abandoned it as unsatisfactory.

I used it three times in one case, but with no other result than to cause much irritation; cure was ultimately obtained by dilating the duct aperture with laminaria.
