Take ten or fifteen ounces of blood from the arm, and afterward apply the alcoholic fumigating bath and one of the following powders given every four hours, until the bowels are freely moved:

Hydrargyri chloridi mitis...................gr. xx
Potassii nitratis........gr. xxx
Pulveris ipecacuanhae.....gr. viij
M. Divide into 4 powders. After the bowels have been freely moved give the following: 3731.
℞ Tincturae veratri viridi......3 ss
Syrupi scillae compositi.....3 iij
Spiritus aetheris nitrosi......3 ss
Extracti lobeliae fluidi......3 ij
Tincturae opii camphoratae ............... ℥ ss M. S. One teaspoonful every two hours until free perspiration and expectoratiou are produced.
After free expectoration has been produced it may be given at longer intervals, or superceded by the following:

M. S. One teaspoonful every six hours.

To relieve the cough and produce rest at night give the patient eight or ten grains of Dover's powder. In dyspnoea and pain under the sternum, apply a blister over the seat of the difficulty.
