This section is from the book "More Recipes For Fifty", by Frances Lowe Smith. Also available from Amazon: More Recipes For Fifty.
2 pounds dried apricots 1 1/2 pounds pitted prunes
3 1/2 cups corn syrup or sugar
Wash fruit separately and thoroughly; add cold water to cover; soak from one to two days. Put in double boiler or fireless kettle in alternate layers, add water in which they were soaked, and cook several hours, or until quite soft but unbroken. Add syrup without stirring; cook fifteen minutes longer in fireless or on back of range. Unpitted prunes may be used, requiring about two pounds.
