One tablespoon butter; 1 cup brown sugar; 1 tablespoon flour; 1 cup milk; 1 egg. Melt butter in skillet; add the sugar and 4 tablespoons of milk; cook 5 minutes; then add the flour, milk and yolk of egg which has been previously stirred smoothly together; cook until it thickens, stirring all the time; pour in baked crust and make meringue of the egg white and brown sugar and place on top and brown. - Mrs. Walter Whissen.

Butterscotch Pie

One pint of sweet milk; 2 eggs; 1 cup of brown sugar; 1 lump of butter; 2 tablespoons of corn starch, heaping; use whites for frosting. Cook in double boiler. - Adelaide Conrad.
