Flies often bother a dog's ear and nose in summer, making sore places. Pine tar rubbed on the sore places will do this nicely, also healing up the sores at same time. You can get a box of it at any drug store for 10 cents, or Eberhart's Skin Cure applied twice daily will do the work as well.
