If it is required to bleach pulp cane, either soak the material in a solution or chloride of lime, then dip in dilute hydrochloric acid, and afterwards thoroughly steep in running water; or soak it in an acid solution of soda bisulphite, followed by acid and water. It is advisable to experiment first on a small scale.
