When galvanising small wire articles, keep the surface of the molten zinc well covered with sal-ammoniac, and heat the metal well above its fusing point. Then immerse the articles and move them in the metal until the zinc appears to be flowing freely upon the wire: withdraw and strike lightly with a stick to jar off superfluous metal.
