Windows that are dull and smoked through being near a brickcroft are cleaned in the following manner. Slake 1/2oz. of qucklime in sufficient water to make a paste, and add 1 lb. of washing soda dissolved in 1 qt. of water; mix thoroughly, and wash the windows with this. Follow with clean water, and dry with a clean cloth. A little whiting, made to a paste with water, rubbed on, allowed to dry, and then rubbed off with a clean cloth, will also be of service.
