To remove mulberry stains from a boat sail, make a strong solution of chloride of lime (bleaching powder), dip the stained parts of the sail in it, and allow to remain for a few minutes. If the stains disappear, wash at once with water only; but if not, then dip iu dilute hydrochloric acid (1 part strong acid to 9 parts water), and afterwards thoroughly wash in running water for an hour to remove the excess of acid.
