Vaseline cannot he made on a small scale; it is one of the products of the distillate in of natural American petroleum, and is a perfectly homogeneous body, remaining as a jelly for an unlimited period. An imitation of vaseline may be made by dissolving 1 part of paraffin wax in i or 5 parts of pure heavy mineral lubricating oil.
