A Petersburg standard is 120/12 ft. 11 in. x 1 1/2in. = 165 ft. cube. To: i certain the number of feet run of any sized scantling required to make a standard, multiply 1,4410 by 16.5, and divide the product by the sectional area in square inches of the required scantling, the quotient being the number of feet. Taking 9in. x 2 in. as example: (9x2= 18). Then 1,440 16.5 x 18 = 1,320. The following table includes the most general sizes; others can be worked out as above: -
