In preserving winter berries, immerse them in a fairly strong cold brine prepared with ordinary table salt and water. The berries will keep in this way for a long time. Artificial berries are nearly always used for decorative purposes, because of the great difficulty in keeping the natural berries in an unshrivelled state.
