For egg paste for trout fishing, beat up an egg and add sufficient flour to form a stiff dough; then add a little cotton-wool worked well in if for running water. To make a good roach fishing paste, take a thick slice of fairly stale white bread, cut off the crust, and dip into clean water; then squeeze and knead till of the right consistency. Putting the bread into a piece of canvas before dipping into the water tends to keep the paste clean. A little cotton-wool maybe worked in to prevent the paste being washed off the hook.
