To make blacking that requires no polishing, take 4 oz. of treacle, 1/2 oz. of lampblack, a tablespoonful of yeast, two eggs, a teaspoonful of olive oil, and a teaspoonful of oil of turpentine; mix well, and apply with a sponge.
