An instrument for cutting down corn. It is simply a curved blade or hook of steel, with the edge, in the interior of the curve, serrated, so as to make a cut like a saw. The subjoined engraving, which represents the native instrument used by the Singalese, shows that the sickles employed by the semi-barbarous nations of the East differ in no essential respect from those used in this country.
