Differs in the leaves being nearly entire or faintly denticulate above, shorter-acuminate, and the cells larger. Only male flowers found. The allied E. colpophyllum, (Sulliv) Lesq. & James, is described as having "the leaves scarious with a shorter blunt point, the costa not thick, and the areolation longer and narrower."

Tufts green, intricate. Branches short, subjulaceous. Leaves close, incurved at the apex, ovate, oblong, denticulate to the middle, reflexed, at the margins below; inner cells sub-oblong, the alar and marginal quadrate, not vesiculose or yellow; costa short and double. Periche-tial leaves larger and longer, appressed, a little longer acuminate. Capsule cylindric, curved, very much narrower than the rostrate lid; pedicel arcuate or fiexuous. Probably monoecious.

This species differs from Raphidoategium microcarpum in the laxer areolation of the smaller, distinctly denticulate leaves, the capsule more than doubly longer, the large lid and the arcuate pedicel, etc.

Perichetial leaves long-acuminate, filiform-pointed, denticulate above. Capsule narrow-cylindric, suberect, nearly straight; lid rostellate. Tufts golden, glossy or green. Stem subpinnate; branches acute.
