A. anthropophora: stem 8-9 inches high; leaves ovate, oblong, or nearly lanceolate; spike slender, 2-4 iuches long, the flowers small, dull yellowish-green, the lip narrow-linear, twice as long as the sepals, and fancifully compared to a hanging man, two lateral lobes representing the arms, and the middle one, which is longer and 2-cleft, the body and legs. - Man Orchis. - Dry chalky pastures.
