1 pound powdered sugar.
1 pound flour, dried and sifted.
1/2 pound butter, rubbed to cream with sugar.
1 cup of fresh milk.
1 lemon, the juice and half the grated peel.
5 eggs, yolks and whites beaten separately.
1 grated cocoanut.
1 teaspoonful soda, dissolved in hot water.
2 smaller teaspoonfuls cream of tartar, sifted in the flour.
Bake in two square, shallow pans. Ice, when cold, with lemon icing.
