Mix thoroughly

Stir in

Chill.

Heat oven to 375°.

1/3 cup soft shortening 1/3 cup sugar

1 egg 2/3 cup honey

1 teaspoon vanilla

2% cups sifted Gold Medal Flour 1 teaspoon soda 1 teaspoon salt

Roll dough out on floured pastry cloth, using floured covered rolling pin. Roll to 1/4 -inch thickness. Cut in different shapes.

Set on greased baking sheet. Paint designs with Egg Yolk Paint. There is a color photograph of these on pages 36 and 37.

Bake 8 to 10 minutes. For clear colors do not let cookies brown.

Makes 5 dozen 2 1/2-inch cookies.
