2l/2 cupfuls of sugar, 1/2 cupful of butter,

4eggs,

1 cupful of milk,

4 even cupfuls of flour, flavoring,

2teaspoonfuls of yeast powder.

This quantity is sufficient for a small loaf and a three layer cake.

Plain Cake

Cream with the hand one cupful of sugar, and one-half cupful of butter, add one-half cupful of milk and one-half cupful of corn starch mixed together; yolks of three eggs, one and one-half cupfuls of flour, with two tea-spoonfuls of baking powder, and last whites of three eggs. Flavor with lemon; frost with boiled frosting.
