Ingredients

4 lbs. loaf sugar, 2 1/2 oz. tartaric acid, 2 drachms essence of lemon, 1 quart of water, boiling.

Method

Put the sugar in a basin and pour the boiling water upon it. When dissolved and quite cool, add the essence of lemon and tartaric acid, and bottle for use. One tablespoonful to a tumbler of water makes excellent lemonade.
