3/4 cup peanut butter 2 quarts stock
1/2 cup cornstarch 2 teaspoons salt
Mix cornstarch to a paste with an equal quantity of cold stock. Stir peanut butter until smooth with a little cold stock, then add remainder boiling hot, and combine with cornstarch. Boil five minutes or more; add salt, and pepper if desired.
