I am not fair,

But you have thought me so,

And with a crown I go More rich than Beauty's wear.

I am not brave,

But fear has made me so,

And dread lest I forego The honour that you gave.

I am not wise,

But you loved wisdom so

That what I did not know I learned it in your eyes.

I am not true,

But you have trusted so

That faithfully I go, Lest I be false to you.

If Heaven I win,

I can no virtue show

But that you loved me so. Will they not let me in ?
