Dissolve half an ounce of isinglass in a little spirits of wine, add a tablespoon-ful of water; warm it slowly over the fire till it forms a transparent glue. Then spread it nicely on the edges of the broken glass, unite them, and in a few minutes the joining will be firm and scarcely perceptible.
Broken glass may be mended as follows: - Get some cloves of garlic, tie them in a rag, and place them in a tin pan, pounding them with a hammer, to express the juice. Wet the broken edges of the glass with this juice, and stick them firmly together; stand the article upon a plate, or other level surface, and let it remain undisturbed for a fortnight.
