To one quart of lukewarm water add as much buckwheat meal as will make a batter of the proper thickness. Add to this a little salt, a teaspoonful of soda dissolved, and a teaspoonful of tartaric acid dissolved in a half a cup of water. When the latter is ready, put in the acid and beat the batter well, then stir in the soda, and bake immediately.
Three pints of buckwheat, one teaspoonful of soda, dissolved in water enough to make a batter. When mixed, add one teaspoonful of tartaric acid dissolved in a little warm water. Bake immediately.
