Two cups brown sugar, 1 cup molasses, 3/4 cup butter, 2 or 3 eggs, 1 cup cold coffee, 1 teaspoon soda, 5 cups Henkel's flour, 1 cup dried currants, 1 cup raisins, 1 teaspoon cinnamon, 1 teaspoon allspice. Mrs. C. P. Warren.
3/4 cup sugar. 2 teaspoons Royal baking powder. Large tablespoon butter. 1 egg. 2 cups Henkel's flour sifted. 1/2 teaspoon salt. 3/4 cup sweet milk. Sprinkle with sugar, cinnamon and sugar, bake 20 minutes. Mrs. S. Simmons.
Warm 3 cups milk, add 2 tablespoons each of lard and butter. When melted, cool and add Henkel's flour enough to make soft sponge. Add 1 yeast cake (Fleishman's) soaked in 1/2 cup water, beat thoroughly and let rise. Beat down, add 2 eggs, 5 tablespoons sugar, 1 teaspoon salt, 1 teaspoon cinnamon, 1 cup raisins. Add flour so as to be able to spread with spoon in shallow, well greased tins. Strew sugar, cinnamon and lumps of butter over top, let rise and bake.
Mrs. B. A. Scott.
