Cream butter and sugar together; beat whites and yolks of eggs separately. If milk is used, add it to the butter and sugar, then the eggs; flour always last; baking powder is always sifted with the flour; spices are mixed with the flour or sugar. In fruit cake take part of the flour to coyer the fruit.
