This noble-looking Chilian Pine, with spiny-tipped and spirally arranged leaves, is well known. It attains a height of 150 ft. in a native state, but rarely more than 50 ft. in the British Islands. The Norfolk Island Pine (A. excelsa) is dealt with in Vol. II at p. 127.
