The Turk's Cap (named from its scarlet cap-like flower) is a very pretty evergreen flowering shrub with heart-shaped leaves of pale-green, belonging to the genus Malvaceae. It requires a sheltered situation and partial shade (such as under the branches of a deciduous tree away from strong sunshine and protected from frost) and grows freely in any good soil not too heavy.
Propagate by placing cuttings of half-ripe wood in sandy soil in a cool frame in September and shading them from sunshine until rooted; when rooted, pot them singly in three-inch pots and plant them out the following Spring.
Achanta Malvavistus.
