The Bougainvillea is justly classed among the most showy of our climbers, and, when planted beside a veranda or when allowed to climb on a tall tree or building gives gorgeous effects.
This climber delights in a warm sheltered situation and good soil with a reasonable amount of water during the summer months. There are several varieties, all of which are desirable, including Bougainvillea speciosa, Bougainvillea Saundersiana, Bougainvillea glabra and Bougainvillea lateritia.
The Bougainvillea is easily increased by cuttings, put in a frame in September or March and given a little heat.
