An excellent tree for semi-aquatic situations, having a soft light-green fern-like foliage. It is very graceful in habit and highly ornamental. The genus comprises several species including Taxodium distichum (from Louisiana) and Taxodium mucronatum, the Montezuma Cypress (from Mexico).
Propagate by cuttings, during the Winter months, placed in a vessel of water where they will root in a few weeks, or by seeds sown one-eighth of an inch deep in light sandy soil, and placed in a warm greenhouse in Spring.
