This is a small group agreeing with the Rubiaceae or Cin-chonacew in having opposite simple leaves and interpetiolar stipules and other characters, but differing in the fruit being superior. The Nux vomica and many other deadly poisons are produced by members of this family. The species are nearly all tropical.
