309: For Gargle and Mouth Wash formula
Drachms
1. Sage Leaves 10
2. Rosemary 10
3. Goldthread 2
4. Rhatany Root 2
5. Cranesbill Root 2
6. Red Oak Bark 6
7. Cassia Bark 2
8. Cloves 2
9. Comfrey Root 2
Mix well and divide into 10 doses, using Herbs especially cut for Tea.
Directions: Add one dose to a pint of boiling water, boil slowly for 5
minutes, let stand for about 10 minutes, then strain and add one tablespoonful
of table salt to the decoction. Use as a gargle and mouth wash every 2 or 3
hours, until the inflammation and swelling has subsided. If the decoction is
found too astringent it may be diluted with water.
The astringent and antiseptic properties of this formula make it a very
valuable remedy, not only in sore throat, but also in spongy, bleeding gums,
canker sores, bad breath. It is very healing, soothing and strengthening to the
diseased tissues.
