Pyrogallic acid is credited with being almost as useful in psoriasis as chrysophan, with the advantage of not staining the skin and the clothing as does the latter substance. Its use, however, is not altogether devoid of danger, as cases of systemic poisoning have been reported from its too free external employment. It is exceedingly soluble in water and glycerine, and may be so used or in ointment (1 - 30).
