M\Lo-Glossi, (from
dens molares, and
lingua). These muscles are small fleshy planes, situated transversely on each side, between the ramus of the lower jaw and the basis of the tongue; they rise from near the inner side of the dentes molares, and thence run to the basis of the tongue, but are often wanting.
Mylo-hyoides, (from
a grinding tooth, and
the hyoid bone,) muscles which rise with a large basis from the inferior part of the lower jaw, and are inserted at the basis of the os hyoides.
