What is slang? Why do we use wo;-ds and expressions which are called slang? Does the use of slang help us to make ourselves understood? Does any harm come from using slang?

What are some slang expressions that you use or that you hear? What does each one mean in correct language? Do you hear any slang words that have more than one meaning? How can one who hears them tell what is meant?

2. Exercise

Think of a number of slang expressions that you use or that you hear. Think what each means, and use the correct words in sentences.

If you find yourself using slang, see if you can think of better words to use instead.
