Astrological Significance:
The Earth seems not to appear in the Natal Chart, yet it is there implicitly. The System of Houses indirectly refers to it. Also, the significance of the Sun is very similar to that of the Earth. In reality when dealing with the astrological significance of the Sun we must take into account the Earth, for it is with reference to the Earth that the significance of the Sun was mainly developed. Likewise the Signs of the Zodiac were develop in reference to the yearly Earth-Sun relationship. Aries marks the beginning of the Spring Equinox, Libra the Autumn Equinox, Cancer the Summer solstice and Capricorn the Winter Solstice. All these are phases in the Earth-Sun cycle. Thus, the Signs do reflect the Earth character.
However if you want to include the Earth more directly in your chart, someone has suggested that the Earth should be the ruler of Taurus. The symbol for the Earth is a circle like the one for the Sun but with and X inside. Finally, the Earth has been identified as occupying the zodiacal position opposite the Sun's position. Thus, if the Sun is in 25 degrees 10 minutes of Aries, then the Earth is in 25 degrees, 10 minutes of Libra. That simple.
The symbolism of the Earth is closely tied to that of the Moon. As a matter of fact the Moon is our only satellite, thus, she is almost an extension of our own Earth. The Earth then may be seen as signifying the same as the Moon, but stronger. The Mother of us all.

Astrological Significance:
Mars is farther away from the Sun than us. He takes about 687 days to make its circuit around the Sun: Almost two of our years. Mars symbolism differs from the symbolism of the planets previously mentioned. The Moon is Earth's own satellite; Venus and Mercury should be perceive as modifiers of the Sun; Mars, however being farther from the Sun than us cannot be seen as an extension of the Earth, (like the Moon) or an extension of the Sun (like Venus and Mercury). Thus Mars somehow represent an independent identity; or rather, the very first attempt to establish that identity. Its cycle of just two years gives this effort a relatively short life. As such Mars represents or rules the youthful drives toward independence and self-afirmation. Self-afirmation among nations have cause many wars and conflicts. Thus, these are also perceive as belonging under Mars rulership.

Astrological Significance:
Jupiter is the second largest body in our Cosmic System. He takes almost twelve years to go around the Sun. This cycle "coincides" with a basic cycle of human development. Thus, Jupiter is seen as ruling the cycle of human expansion that bring forth adolescence.
Latter on, as Jupiter returns for a second time to its natal position, the individual will find himself starting a new phase in his life; that of adulthood, must likely married and with children.
Traditionally Jupiter have been seen as the "Great Benefic" among the planets. However he is neither "good" nor "evil". Jupiter simply represents a cosmic cycle that has come to represent or rule a given set of emotional drives within the human psyche. These drives toward expansion and growth will be good or bad, depending on how we use and regulate them. If we used them with evil intentions or if we regulate them not, then we may end up hurting others and certainly ourselves.

Astrological Significance:
Saturn is the farthest planet seen with the naked eye. He takes 29 years to go around the Sun. This cycle is the longest cycle that we will experiment more than once in our lives. As such Saturn has come to represent both the physical limits and the karmic process where our lives is divided in cycles of learning. With each Saturn's return we come to rememorate (consciously or unconsciously) our previous experiences. Hopefully we'll learn from successes and failures. This would also be a time to reap what we have sow.
