Where an application for a loan is made to a broker, who secures a party willing to make the loan, but does not so notify the applicant, and after the time within which the broker was to place the loan has expired, the applicant, without knowledge of the steps taken by the broker, secures a loan from the same person with whom the broker had arranged to place it, he is not entitled to a commission.
