Amedee Gabourd, a French historian, born about 1805, died in 1867. He began life as a journalist, and became chief of bureau in the ministry of the interior. He published many historical works in the ultramontane and monarchical interest, including Histoire de la revolution et de l'empire (10 vols., 1846-'51), Histoire de France (20 vols., 1857-'62), Ilistoire de Paris (5 vols., 1863-'5), and Histoire contemporaine (7 vols., 1864-'7).
