Cod-liver oil is neither more nor less than cod-oil clarified; and consequently two-thirds of its medicinal qualities are abstracted thereby. Cod-oil can be purchased pure at any wholesale oil warehouse, at about one-thirtieth part of the price charged for the so-called codliver oil. Many persons who have used cod-oil pure as imported, have found it to answer much better than the cod-liver oil purchased of a druggist. The beet vehicle for taking cod liver oil in is new milk, and the disagreeable flavour of the drug can easily be covered by the addition of one drachm of orange-peel to every eight ounces of the oil.
