[Gk. aster, a star, and logos, a discourse.] The name of a system based on the science of astronomy, in which it is claimed that future events, and the coming fortune of any man, can be told from a study of the planets. The early astronomers were all astrologers, and watched the stars in order to predict the future from their movements. Astrology was widely believed only a few centuries ago, but now none but the ignorant have any faith in it, and it is professed only by rogues or fools.
