[AS. han.]A hard stoneo f verv finegrit, used in sharpening knives, razors, and various sharp-edged tools. The best stone for hones is found in Arkansas and Turkey, and when in use is wet with oil. Coarser hones are usually called whetstones, and are wet with water.
